Cabin Clack is a cozy, stream-side retreat bordering 1000 acres of wild trails in host-maintained Clapper Hollow State Forest.

The area is perfect for all kinds of outdoor activities and also offers plentiful organic farm stands in growing season.
The cabin is good for a couple, solo adventurers, or families (with kids). We welcome pets, and they will love exploring the countryside and the freedom of our virtually traffic-free dead-end road.

Жилье
The space is a 1-room cabin with queen bed, kitchenette with microwave, electric stove and mini fridge. Vintage free-standing tub and Vermont Castings wood-burning stove. The back porch overlooks a lively little stream and a hibachi if you feel like grilling. There is a free standing outdoor fire pit with plenty of firewood to make a campfire at night. A great place for star gazing.

Что доступно гостю
The entire cabin is yours to call home during your stay, and you are free to explore our 100 acre property and adjacent 900 acre Clapper Hollow State Forest. We are DEC Stewards of the forest and have made and maintain our own trail maps, which we would be happy to share with you - just ask!

If you would like to branch out and explore the area, Windham and Plattekill ski areas are within an hour's drive, as are cultural attractions like the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame, Brewery Ommegang, the Farmer's Museum, and Fenimore Art Museum, Howes Cavern and Secret Cavern.

Важная информация
We can supply you with snowshoes and ski poles for exploring as well as toboggans. Bring your own equipment for Xcountry skiing around the property, or go downhill skiing at Plattekill or Windham. Skating rink is free on the Jefferson village green and there is a charming free lighted skating area under the trees in Schoharie, 20 minutes away.

There are apple trees all around and guests are welcome to collect them and to use our apple press to make their own cider.

There is no cell reception or wi-fi at the Cabin - so be prepared to truly unplug! Guests can use the wifi at the host's house and cell service can be had by driving up the hill.

We welcome guests during the Coronavirus epidemic. We expect there are people who would like to escape the crowded areas to be in the fresh air of a pristine forest. We take extra precautions in the cleaning of the cabin between guests, including meticulous laundering, careful sterilization of the floor and surfaces and when weather allows, airing of the whole space and sun airing of mats, carpets, dog bed etc.

Your hosts are Thomas and Clara Courtenay-Clack. Thomas is originally from the South of England and came to the USA in the early 1960's. He worked in England at the BBC and opened his own recording studios in Manhattan. Clara was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and worked for the Rijksmuseum over there. She came to NYC in the 1970's and worked for the Netherlands Consulate. Tom and Clara have traveled in many parts of the world and are very committed to the local community. They are maintaining Clapper Hollow State Forest as Stewards of the DEC. Clara stays busy weaving, repairing old books at the NYS Historical Museum Library, gardening, cooking and multiple crafts. Tom teaches radio and audio skills as a volunteer at SUNY Oneonta and likes to grow vegetables and cook. We love dogs and wildlife.
