We'll get started with an introduction and warm up to ensure our bodies are prepared for the hike ahead. Then we'll jump right into the hike, remaining on the clearly marked trail to Rattlesnake Ledge. The trail ends at the first ledge, which is what you will likely see in photographs from this hike, but does continue to higher ledges that are less congested on busy days as well as a connector to a much longer trail that we will not be doing. Hiking pace is generally slower than walking pace, and averages 1.5-2.5 miles per hour depending on guests' fitness level and stops for water, snacks, and photos. We will stop as many times as needed to ensure guests are hydrated, fed, and get a chance to take in the views. A break at the turnaround point (first ledge) will be followed by the descent back to the trailhead, where we will conclude the hike with more stretching and say our goodbyes. Rattlesnake Ledge Trail is a short but a somewhat steep hike; it is great for beginners and novice hikers alike, and catching the sunrise at the ledge makes for an unforgettable experience. This hike climbs 1,160 feet in about 2 miles (a little over 4 miles roundtrip), and the trail is mostly dirt and rock with tree cover until we reach the ledge. No technical skills are needed, but guests must be aware that the ascent will take place before sunrise, so headlamps and/or flashlights are required.

Где вы побываете
Rattlesnake Ledge is an incredibly popular hike for tourists and locals alike. Having made the quick trek to the ledge many times, I have found that catching the sunrise from the summit is an unforgettable experience that can be intimidating for solo hikers or small groups with little experience hiking in the dark. There is a lake and recreation area near the trailhead in case guests choose to stick around after the hike!

The first half of the hike takes place before the sunrise (read: in the dark), so guests must have some form of light source in order to see the trail. Cougar sightings do happen, so guests must be alert but not fearful, and small dogs should be left at home.
