Чем вы займетесь
Our immersion day begins at 8am when we meet at San Blas Plaza. We have a 20 minute walk to get to the beginning of my community. Along the way you will have great views of Cusco. From here we will trek through a forest pasting many different plants, we will be able to identify different herbs that grow natural, such as muña (which is really good for those that are suffering from the affects of altitude sickness). We will pick some so we can make tea out of them later on. The walk is between 90-120 minutes and we will have plenty of time to rest along the way. There is also a waterfall so for those that do want to take a dip that will also be possible. When we arrive at the farm, you will be able to rest before we arrive begin helping with the farm work. This depends on the time of year but most likely will be digging out potatoes, planting potatoes, working with the horses to separate the corn husks or something similar. If the weather is good then we will have a Huatia in the chakra, a traditional Incan oven made out of the earth. We will then visit the Devils Balcony before returning a scenic way back to Cusco.
We will offer snacks (mote and corn) that have been grown by the community as well as a lunch. For those that are feeling…
There will plenty of time to try different mates (herbs) in tea form.
My name is Katherine and I am from the small community of Pucara, which is situated 40 minutes walking from Cusco. I have grown up amongst the nature and animals and as my community are descendants of the Incas we have a huge respect for Mother Earth. Now I live in the Cusco city but every weekend I return to the community to work the land, harvest crops and to continue the traditions that my family have practiced for hundreds of years. These include the Huatia, the famous natural oven that we use to cook potatoes and other food when we are working the land. I would love to share with those from other cultures what real Peruvian life is like away from all the tourist buses and queues. My community invites you to be a part of our community for the day.
