Your experience begins with a short introduction to Malaysia, her people and her geography. We will then proceed to visit some of the oldest houses of worships in Kuala Lumpur, namely a Hindu kovil and a humble out of view Chinese temple. Shutterbugs are welcome to help themselves to some of the best street pictures in Kuala Lumpur! Participants will also be able to experience making a flower garland offering. we will be exploring fun facts like "Do you know that a Indian (Hindu) temple is modeled to mirror the cosmo?" or "Is Feng Shui mere cultural superstitions?" We will be exploring the culturally correct way to enter a temple and the reasons behind these practices. We will then stroll to old mill street aka Chinatown where we would stop by a traditional chinese medicine store to learn, smell and perhaps sample some chinese herbs. Experience ends with recommendations of activities around the area
Tasting of some chinese herbs or some a cup of herbal tea (optional)
All necessary materials for the garland weaving will be provided
I am: A travelbug. With a strong curiosity towards understanding customs and traditions. Histories are the collective stories of the people. As narratives, it need never be dull! I was: A backpacker! Lugging my way across South East Asia (I'm missing Brunei & newly independent Timor Leste), spending weeks traveling the length of Eastern China South Korea, and the cultural triangle of Japan. I had: Lived in the USA on a work and travel program. It was the journey that instilled in me a confidence when it comes to solo backpacking. I had also had the opportunity to live in Colombia on a Spanish scholarship, so yo hablo un poco espanol! More importantly, I made one of my childhood bucketlist to visit the Nazca lines and climb machu picchu!! I am a licensed city guide and founder of "Mousedeer Journeys & Events" on Tripadvisor!
