Чем вы займетесь

Women guests will be helped to put on a choice of kimonos from our collection of 13 authentic wedding kimonos. These long-sleeved kimonos are brightly colored and heavy. To buy new, they would cost anything upward of 10,000 dollars. Male guests get to wear one of our two authentic montsuki hakama men's kimonos. Photos are taken at various picturesque places in our traditional temple lodging. The kimono experience is followed by our original temple lunch (オテランチ), a healthy vegetarian plate that includes yuba (bean curd sheets) and Akebono soybeans, which are unique to the Minobu area. Dessert is soy milk ice cream with a selection of homemade fruit confitures.

I am an award-winning cook with over 25 years experience running one of Japan's most popular temple lodgings. As such, I have crafted unique menus that adhere to Buddhist dietary needs and appeal to 21st century tastes. Our meals, which are almost entirely vegetarian, make full use of two local products: yuba (bean curd sheets) and Akebono soybeans. As the wife of a Buddhist priest and kimono aficionado, I've been fortunate to acquire 13 authentic wedding kimonos from my kimono tailor. These kimonos, which cost anything from $10,000 a piece, are a world apart from rental kimonos offered to tourists in Kyoto and Tokyo.

Где вы побываете

The kimono experience takes place within Kakurinbo, a 550-year-old shukubo, or temple lodging. Backdrops for photos include our traditional Japanese garden and koi pond, recognized as a local cultural asset. The special temple lunch is either served in our dining room, which looks onto the garden, or on our Sakura Terrace, a raised outdoor area surrounded by cherry trees. While here, be sure to visit Kuonji, the center of Nichiren Shu Buddhism.
