Brand new for 2019, I will be offering a sunset kayak tour to Montreal's foremost microbrewery on the banks of the Historic Lachine Canal. We will depart from the historic Atwater Market and head West towards the St-Paul locks. As the first and only paddle shop established on the Lachine Canal almost 20 years ago, I will share my unique perspective on the history of the canal and the recent development and gentrification of the surrounding neighbourhoods. As we travel directly south of the downtown core, you will discover a one-of-a-kind view of the city. I'll also share interesting tidbits about local restaurants and shops. (Did you know Joe Beef used to keep a bear in the basement of his bar to "encourage" patrons to leave at closing! We'll quickly get out to see the locks before we enter the St-Ambroise Brewery for a drink as the sun sets on one of Montreal's first micro-breweries. We'll get a tour of the brewery and learn about the brewing process and enjoy a few tasty samples before heading back at dusk, experiencing the cities as it lights up for the evening. No kayaking experience is required but if you need instruction arrive early for a few tips. Also offer this tour. https://abnb.me/VblI3EvvbY
I started kayaking in high school and loved it so much I made it my career. In 1996 I co-founded a kayaking school and have been teaching and guiding ever since. I was even a kayaking extra in movie once. In 2001 we set up on the Lachine Canal and I was so enamored that I moved to the neighbourhood. Since then, I have researched the amazing history and rejuvenation of the area which I love to share during my tours. Due to the popularity of the experiences I am offering, my assistants Dylan, Alex or/and Sarah could be joining us or leading the trips. Dylan speaks French, English and Spanish fluently and Sarah is a ray of sunshine who has been assisting me for two seasons. Alex is a professional guide.
