Чем вы займетесь

We invite you to experience Japanese pottery making and enjoy handmade Japanese sweets, Wagashi in a relaxing environment surrounded by the nature of Kita-Kamakura, a place well known as the origin of the Zen Mind in Japan. My studio, Takaranoniwa is located on the property of Jochiji temple, one of the five great Zen temples of Kamakura. You can experience one-and-a-half to two hours of pottery making with me. Since spring to early summer is a flowering season in Japan. We will create a flower shaped bowl called Rinka-bachi, during the month of April, May, and June. It is a very photogenic form that is great for serving colorful dishes and even for arranging flowers. We will fire the pottery and send you your work afterward. (approx. 2months for shipping. Please note that shipping cost is additional. ) After the pottery making, we will invite you to enjoy the atmosphere and reflect on yourself with handmade Japanese wagashi sweets and matcha tea prepared by my friend, who is a wagashi artist. We invite you to experience mindfulness through Japanese pottery making and traditional sweets in this serene environment in the woods.

Naomi&Kiyo

Returning to Japan after living abroad for over a decade, I was reawakened by the beauty of Japanese nature & culture and would like more people to have a chance to experience it where it still remains, in Kamakura. I am bilingual (Japanese & English) and have been an instructor for more than 15 years. I am thrilled to meet you through pottery making. My friend, Kiyo, is a certified cook and medicinal cooking advisor who has been catering for a traditional Japanese delicatessen as well as teaching Japanese sweets making and serving tea for over 8 years.

Где вы побываете

Our studio is a 15-minute walk from Kita-Kamakura station. At the end of a narrow path leading from Jochiji Temple, you will find a small old Japanese folk house standing alone on more than an acre of land. This is a unique place, a plot between the hills that was cultivated during the Kamakura Era (12-13 Centuries A.D.) and now features an old ceramic wood-fired kiln and a deep well. It is a place of deep history and rich, living culture.
