Чем вы займетесь

The focus of our class is to teach you to make sourdough at home, with domestic appliances, under normal kitchen conditions.
You will learn to mix and shape your own sourdough in a totally hands-on experience, flour, dust and all! This will be done in defined stages with techniques, tips and some science along the way.
Being an interactive class, you will ask questions along the way, especially all the do's and don'ts for making sourdough successfully.
We will break for half an hour, where lunch will be served with a beverage. Also of offer during the break, is a tour of the Historic Arnott Bakehouse, to learn more about the history of the famous Arnott family baking dynasty.
At the conclusion of the class, you can take a loaf of Morpeth Sourdough home and you will also have the opportunity to purchase baking tins and utensils.

I'm Allie your host and co-founder of Morpeth Sourdough bakery. I'm a Master of Food Microbiology, have detailed knowledge of food fermentations & previously worked for the largest bakery in Australia. During our class, I provide some of the science on sourdough. Together with Stephen Arnott, a sourdough master baker from one of the oldest baking families in Australia, we run our sourdough baking class in Morpeth, NSW. We've been baking sourdough since 2000 & retailing at the Historic Arnott Bakehouse, Morpeth since 2003. Our ancestors are famous bakers and you are probably most familiar with William Arnott, Stephen's g-g-great grandfather, founder of Arnott's Biscuits! He baked here at this very site back in the 1860's. We make real, authentic sourdough, with texture and taste, the direct result of an extended dough fermentation process.

I got to actively participate in the whole experience, meet great people and hear some amazing history around Arnott’s, the building, and Morpeth. I can’t wait to put what I have learnt into practice, Stephen was really keen to learn about my experiences and to help me further expand on my skills. Very grateful that I chose this class over the others on offer.

Thank you it was a wonderful and informative experience and I learnt many interesting things and history. I loved it and would highly recommend going! Looking forward to trying my new learned skills at home.

Great course in the historic bakery, it would have been great to actually bake some loaves but renovations we being done which prevented this. But a really good course nonetheless.

My daughter gave me this experience for a Christmas Present and attended the class with me. It was a very personal class with only the two of us and we were both very impressed with the depth of knowledge shown by Stephen and Allie. Enjoyable lunch and plenty of information. Cannot wait to feed my culture and start baking. Thank you Stephen for your personal approach.

A truly unique opportunity to learn about the art of sourdough culture (pun intended) and sourdough bread-making from a renowned expert in a very personal, “hands on” way. Also loved hearing, first hand, about the family history of a true Australian icon (Arnott’s Biscuits)
