Learn FUROSHIKI/TENUGI (Japanese traditional wrapping cloth) wrapping techniques and enjoy a casual tea ceremony in the old town of Asakusa filled with historical charm! FUROSHIKI and TENUGUI are both traditional Japanese cloths with various colors and patterns that had long been part of people's lives. FUROSHIKI as a wrapping cloth, TENUGUI as a hand towel or a head wrapper, before the influx of Western-style towels and plastic bags. But in recent years, they are making a big comeback with modern twists as makeshift bags, smartphone covers and much much more. Choose between FUROSHIKI and TENUGUI, and I will teach you stylish yet practical wrapping techniques, while introducing you to the history and evolution of FUROSHIKI and TENUGUI. You can utilize these wrapping techniques with any mid-sized cloth such as a scarf, so do try at home and add a little Japanese flair to your everyday life! We'll then move to a Japanese-style TATAMI room to enjoy a relaxed TEA CEREMONY experience. Here, I will teach you the basic rules and manners of TEA CEREMONY, but don't get too caught up in them. Let's just have a fun time together, whisking MATCHA green tea and savoring the delicate taste of it!

We are the member of "wasabi experience project" This project provides Japan's carefully selected superb experiences by selected hosts. Instagram: #wasabijp (Ms.) Makiko I am a certified KIMONO (Japanese traditional wears) dresser and a big advocate of traditional Japanese culture. Since I got a KIMONO instructor licence 15 years ago, I've been providing opportunities for the younger generation to get exposed to the beautiful Japanese tradition through holding so many workshops. As Asakusa is a place where the age-old customs and traditions are still deeply rooted in everyday life, I've come to learn many different uses of FUROSHIKI/TENUGUI (Japanese traditional wrapping cloth). I can't wait to share all the useful tricks and tips with you, and show you the timeless beauty of Japanese culture!

Your experience takes place at a chic KIMONO accessory store in the town run by me and my daughter! The store looks onto the Sumida River along which you can enjoy a leisurely stroll, while looking at sailing YAKATABUNE (houseboats) or taking pictures with Skytree in the background.
