Чем вы займетесь

Vittoria and Carmela will welcome you to the Borgia family kitchen, with its enormous farm table and wood oven. They will pour you vino, or perhaps it will be prosecco. They will wrap you in an apron and put you to work. Perhaps you will make gnocchi, with a pesto sauce pounded out of the basil that grows outside the kitchen door. Or you may make parmigiana melanzane, your eggplant brushed ever-so-lightly with crispy flour. You may make torta al testo, the famous umbrian flatbread stuffed with spinach, or proscuitto. Whatever is on the menu that day, it will include the full requirements necessary to a proper Italian sit-down meal: antipasti, primi, secondi, and dolci. And vino of course.
After you cook, Vittoria will take you on a tour of the palazzo, including the chapel where members of her family have worshipped for generations, the frescoed ceilings that are the second floor domain of her parents, who's Pitti Palace wedding in 1960 was so storied it merited six pages in Florence's daily newspaper. You will visit the interior game room,the elegant dining room, with its massive oak table, where you will enjoy the feast you just cooked.

Vittoria Iraci Borgia is the daughter of two historic Italian families. Her mother, Caterina de Medici, is one of seven sisters, including Ippolita de Medici, who Vittoria as a child watched making buccatini with pesto di mandorle, a dish with both extraordinary character and a gorgeous simplicity.

Vittoria and everyone else we met on the experience were amazing! We received a tour of her house and made bunch of yummy dishes together. We then sit around and had some wine and good food, as well as great conversation! Vittoria was very knowledgeable about olive oil including the fruit itself and the process of the making. It was fascinating!

We booked a cooking class for 7 during our stay in Umbria. The house was beautiful and we enjoyed meeting Vittoria and her mother. At the beginning, it wasn’t clear how much we would actually cook, as she was doing much of the work and explaining the steps to us, but by the end we were rolling gnocchi and smothering eggplant with mozzarella. Some of the food was outstanding (eggplant parm) while other dishes were not so great (a pork loin). Vittoria was warm and welcoming and it was quite fun to cook in an authentic Italian kitchen. Vittoria also gave us a tour of her olive press and treated us to free samples which was great. Overall it was a great way to spend a morning and afternoon in Umbria.

We had a great time at Vittoria's incredible home. There was a tremendous amount of history in the home going back hundreds of years and the backdrop of the rolling hills was a perfect compliment. The family also makes thousands of bottles of olive oil on their grounds every year and it was fascinating to hear about the process for doing so. She gave us all a sample to take home which was really sweet, especially for our large group. As is obvious by this review, the visit was so much more than a cooking lesson - it was also a tour, a history lesson and a trip to a picturesque home. I did feel the lesson could have incorporated us into the process a little more, but the outcome was great, nonetheless.

Seven of us traveled around Italy, and at the top of my list was taking a cooking class. Vittoria was lovely! She and Sonia helped us make a three-course meal that included eggplant parmesan (the most delicious I have ever had), gnocchi, fried zucchini and artichoke, pork tenderloin, and tiramisu. We also had the added and amazing benefit to tour her family's estate and the working olive press that is located on the grounds. It was delightful to learn how to try our hand at authentic cuisine without the rigor of a formal cooking class that you might expect at a culinary school or other commercial venue.
