Чем вы займетесь
Most travelers visiting Agra go to the Taj Mahal and head back not knowing that there is so much more to do in and around this city. On your next trip to Agra, consider going on a state government licensed and operated river safari on the Chambal River (1 hour drive from Agra). The Chambal River Safari is no ordinary safari, you're going on a safari (jet motor boats with government trained naturalists and life jackets) on a river which was once the bad-lands of bandits and dacoits (like the wild-wild American West). The bandits are now long gone leaving behind a pristine, wild and 'alive' river eco-system. During the safari you get to see, gharials (critically endangered long snout crocodiles), Indian marsh crocodile, 7 species of turtles, several species of rare and migratory birds, hyenas, jackals, jungle cats, various reptiles and the prized one - Indian River Dolphin (if you're lucky). On some dates the tour time is 11:30am onwards, however that is because it is clashing with another tour of mine. This tour runs in the winter only (Oct to Mid march or April). May to Sept is too hot and then the sanctuary closes for the monsoon season. In peak winter we will depart Agra once the fog clears on the highway and the weather is nice and sunny for visibility on the river. Rest assured, there are no incidents of the crocs attacking people on boats.

I am from Agra but have lived in Himalayas, Germany, NYC, D.C., Dubai and Singapore. In 2014, I volunteered with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in South India. Since 2015, I've been leading and organizing wildlife tours across India and the Chambal River was one of my first organized tours. I know the river like the back of my hand and have deep knowledge of the local and migratory wildlife & excellent local contacts. When not running tours, I travel, photograph and take it easy in open green spaces.

Где вы побываете
The Chambal River Safari is one hour away from Agra by car in either Dholpur (Madhya Pradesh) or Bah (Uttar Pradesh). Most people visiting Agra don't know about this place because it is not on the tourist map and also because there is not much information about going this experience on and off line. The river safari is for 2 hours and the total time taken is 5-6 hours (including the commute to and from Agra)
