Чем вы займетесь
First we will meet up at a local community market for a nice breakfast and coffee while I overview the land we'll hunt and our goals for the day. I will bring some mushrooms in various forms like porcini and chanterelles to introduce you to the mushrooms we will hunt. We will look over my favorite field guides which explain the intricacies of mushroom identification and hunting. We will discuss safety, also. Then we will head out to the hunting grounds and begin the hunt. Hunting mushrooms is essentially hiking around and looking at your surroundings closely and following specific trees. As we find mushrooms, I will help you learn identification characteristics and keys for safe ID of our specimens. If we are lucky, we will be able to find some desirable mushrooms. A fun, educational time in nature is the minimum you will walk away with. Dinner and impressing friends and family are just the extras. Please note: mushroom hunting brings no guarantees. I cannot guarantee we'll find anything or the weather will cooperate. I will do my best to provide the best opportunities for success. The goal for this experience is to learn about mushroom identification and hunting.
While many people feign at the winter rains on the Redwood Coast, to me it means one thing: MUSHROOMS. We are blessed to have an amazing assortment of astonishing mushrooms for us to admire, and for us to eat and enjoy, in some cases. I have been "mushroom hunting" for almost a decade. We have a variety of choice edible mushrooms around the forests here, and I will show you how to successfully hunt them and how to identify trees that are the key to finding the mushrooms. I will introduce you to mushroom identification and highlight the mushrooms you absolutely don't want to eat as well! Some things to note: this trip is meant to be an educational introduction to mushroom identification and hunting safety. If you are a very experienced hunter, this trip may not be for you as it may be too introductory for you.

We will focus our search around UC Santa Cruz's campus. The sprawling oak and hardwood forests are home to chanterelles, black trumpets, and queen boletes. The pines on campus harbor king boletes and various other choice mushrooms. There are various hikes through campus, and I don't pick the same area twice in a week.

All mushroom hunting and consumption is done at your own risk. No one can identify mushrooms safe for eating except yourself. If I don't have the day listed , that day is not available for a hunt. This activity is great for kids, and message me if you have kids younger than 13 for a discount!
