Чем вы займетесь
From the Saligao Church, we will walk through a narrow road lined on both sides with palm trees passing through rice fields. This road will bring us to the old Saligao village with many Indo-Portuguese houses. These houses are about 150 years old adorned with very well maintained gardens showing off many plants which were brought by the Portuguese from Brazil. Each house has a story to tell. It is not uncommon that you are greeted by old ladies sitting on the verandahs. I will talk about the origins of this unique architectural language which developed in Goa because of hundreds of years of interaction with European architectural styles. I will also talk about many layers of influences which ultimately lead to what we now call Goan culture. Meeting point - Saligao Church Parking lot
I am the Founding Director of the Museum of Goa (MOG) and have exhibited widely in India and abroad in galleries and in museums. I was born in a small picturesque village of Keri on the northern border of Goa in 1959. 27 years ago, I gave up my medical profession and devoted myself to visual art and have been working as a conceptual artist. I started studying history which unknowingly became a footnote to every work of mine. A number of my works are connected with the ocean since I believe that it is the ocean which writes histories. At Museum of Goa, I present Goa's histories using art.
