Чем вы займетесь

We will pick you up bright and early from your requested accommodation between 7am and 7:30am (exact times to be assigned the day before once all bookings are in) in our branded Munro Mobile (Nissan Cube-6 seater). Then we will make our way to the Highlands, taking in some photo ops and pitstops on the way up to see some castles and coos. We will then make a food stop in Tyndrum for coffee and breakfast, as well as picking up packed lunches for the hike. From there it is another 30 minutes drive to the start of the hike in Glen Coe. Famous for its breathtaking and cinematic valley, the centre of Glen Coe is where we begin the trek at around 11:30am. The hike takes us up 3000 feet on Buachaille Etive Beag ridge, where we will bag (summit) the munro (approximately 5hrs). Once returned to the vehicle, we will detour through the rest of the valley to see the picturesque Three Sisters and the Lost Valley (of Clan MacDonald) before making our way back. At the tours request, we will make an additional stop for dinner on the way, and then onwards back to Edinburgh to arrive around 7pm.

Originally from California, I fell in love with the Highlands the moment I moved to Scotland over 4 years ago; I have currently completed more than 100 Munros and counting. There’s nothing quite like the Highlands, and the indescribable experience and perspective that Munro bagging provides. I love being there to see the reaction on people’s faces when we first enter the highlands, the looks of awe never get old!

Though I love soaking up the sun doing summer munros, I cannot get enough of winter munros. More challenging and dangerous, the sense of accomplishment coupled with the breathtaking views are second to none, and the extremeness is only enhanced by trekking with crampons and ice axe!

Где вы побываете

Our tour will take us from Edinburgh up past the famous Kelpies (horse head sculptures), through the Historic battle sites of William Wallace and Stirling Castle, past the popular film location of Doune Castle (Outlander, Game of Thrones, The Outlaw King, Monty Python) and through the picturesque town of Callander. We will make a stop just outside of Callander to visit some Highland Coos before winding our way to the Historic Valley of Glen Coe.

Megan was a great host! The hike itself was an incredible experience- challenging and totally worth it- I would recommend 100% to anyone! Megan also knew a lot about Scottish history which was nice to learn on the drive to and from the Highlands. If I’m ever back in Scotland, I would definitely book again!

This was an amazing experience! I've always wanted to visit the Highlands and this was the perfect way to do so. The hike is awesome and in a beautiful location, and Megan provides you with so many insider stories and secrets about the area. She knows a lot of history and facts about the area and Scotland as well, so I definitely learned a lot on the tour rather than just hiking! I recommend this 100%, definitely for more experienced hikers.

Unfortunately I would not recommend this experience to another Airbnb user. Megan did a great job communicating ahead of time about weather and schedule, but the day of she arrived nearly an hour late and did not extend an apology. Perhaps due to the time crunch, we didn't stop to pick up coffee or lunch items, which would have been fine if we had known in advance. In terms of safety, the other tour groups on the munro seemed more prepared--we didn't have water because she assumed we had packed it(?) and if she brought crampons for emergency (as she said she would) we didn't see them. The Highlands were gorgeous and my partner and I were so glad we got to go--ultimately due to miscommunications and some safety concerns, I would pick a different guide next time we get a chance to explore the Highlands.

This was an amazing experience! Appreciated being picked up and dropped off near my hostel, stopping for yummy Scottish snacks along the way, and getting to know Megan. The hike and views were stunning. Would definitely recommend this experience for a day out in the highlands!

We had a great time with Megan! She paid special attention to weather forecasts and let us know what to expect leading up to the day, and then gave us options based on what the weather would allow for. She took us to experience local snacks, landmarks, history and culture. The hike/climb was both challenging and fun, and we felt a huge sense of accomplishment after. She played great music in the car and made sure to share landmarks and facts about the area on the ride while also getting to know us. She recommended other experiences and restaurants to further enrich our time in Scotland. Megan’s tour was the highlight of our vacation!

Другие советы

While Munro Bagging is considered hill walking, we do require a basic level of fitness. The route is approximately 7mi and has an incline of over 1000m. With that said, we take plenty of breaks, and the tour will go at the pace all of the ‘baggers’ are comfortable with.
